  5. (7) the value of g is simply h divided by 3 add t, where h and t are variables. First we have to divide h by three and whatever answer we get we add that answer to t.

    step 1: h/3= answer #1
    step 2: answer#1 + t = final answer

    ReplyDelete
  6. (10) the value of m is h multiply by p, add 3 and then multiply by 5. the steps are as follows:

    step 1: h*p= ans #1
    step 2: ans#1 + 3 = ans#2
    step 3: ans#2 * 5 = final answer

  11. for number 1
    m= 6 + 13
    is just that m=19

    and for number 2
    m=5b + 2
    unlike number one number two does not have like terms which could be added so there for it is juat as it is stated
    m=5b + 2..
    it cannot be simplified

    ReplyDelete
  12. with all of these equation could only be simplified only if there are like terms .. if there is no like terms then nothing could be done..if there is like terms they must be grouped and simplified as the best as they can.. the similar terms could be number or letters.

    ReplyDelete
  13. (9)first of all in this equation we must point out that there are 3 variables h, p and m. In order to find the value of h we should follow these simple steps:- (1)Firstly input the value of m into the equation and then multiply this value by 5.(2) following which we add 3 to the value obtained from the previous step. (3) we then input the value of the variable p and then divide the value obtained from step 2 by the value of p. And there is your answer..BOOM!!

  14. "What do these really mean." m=6+13 really means that m is a variable, which is just a number and is equal to the number 6 added to the number 13, therefore m = 19. So substituting 19 for m in the equation gives, 19 = 6+13 proving that m is really 19.

    ReplyDelete
  15. ok most of these comments have just stated what the equation is about which are all correct. On the other had looking at most of these equations also there are other variables.
    these equations also give values for these other variables not only the ones on the left hand side
    for example
    2)m=5b+2
    yes we see to obtain a value for m we would multiply 5 by a given value b and add 2 to that answer

    BUT!!

    also contained in this equation is an equation to find "b"

    m=5b+2
    5b=m-2
    b=(m-2)/5

    so as we see this is the same equation but a different variable can be found.

    ReplyDelete
  16. m=5b+2 means that the variable m which is just a number, is equal to 5b added to the number 2. b in the term 5b is just another variable which is just another number. The number 5 is called the coefficient of the variable b. A coefficient is number in front of a variable. The number 5 is to be multiplied by the variable b. The number 2 is called a constant term. When the two terms are added the result is equal to m. Since there are two unknown variables the equation cannot be solved for m or for b unless a number is given to substitute for either m or b.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I agree with cap guy, the equations do have more than one variable. To find an answer for the variables on the left hand side, the variables on the right hand must be given and to find an answer for the variables on the right hand side the variables on the left hand side must be given. Therefore if any of the variables are given, making the the unknown variable the subject of the equation leads to a new equation.

    ReplyDelete
  18. (8) firstly identify all the variables in the equation which are p and f. Then input the value of f and multiply this by 7. then minus 9 from the value.from the calculations above this will now give you the values which are in the brackets. then divide the value by five which will give you the resulting answer.

    ReplyDelete
  19. m=6+13 means that m is equal to the value when 6 and 13 is added together.

    wen the calculation is performed m=6+13
    m=19

    ReplyDelete
  20. m=6+13 means m is the subject of the formula, and it gives you information that 6+ 13 so you can solve which is m=19.

    m=5b+2 means for this on you ahve to find the value of b first then solve for m.

    h=irs means h is showing ifo. that i is multiplied by r the multiplied by s.

    w= 5(7d-2) means 5 multiplied by 7d and the 5 multiplied by 2.

    p=hv+k means h multiplied by v then the result added to k.

    y=mx+c this is the equation of a straight line.

    g=h/3+t means h divided by the result of 3 plus t which is 3t.

    p=(7f-9)/5 means bracketed terms multiplied by 1 then the result divided by 5.

    ReplyDelete
  21. 1) m=6+13
    m= the sum of 6 and 13, which is 18

    2) m=5b + 2
    m = 5 multiply by the value of b then add that value to 2

    3) h=irs
    the value of h= (i) multiply by the unknown (r) multiply by the value of (s)

    4) w= 5(7d + 2)
    w= (35 x d) + 10
    or
    w= 7 multiply by d then add that value to 2 then multiply this total by 5

    5) p= (h multiply v) + k

    6) y= (m multiply by X) + c

    7) g = h/3 + t
    g = the fraction h/3 plus t

    ReplyDelete
  22. m=6+13
    m=19
    this means that the variable m has the value 19

  24. m=5b+2
    this cant be solved due to the fact that it contains two unknowns (m and b)

    ReplyDelete
  25. (1) m = 5 + 13
    this means that the value of m = 5+13 which is 18
    m=18

    (2)m = 5+2b
    this means that from the previous question m can be equal to 18 so subst 18 for m ad find for b or find for m by getting a value for b and substituting.

    ReplyDelete
  26. (3)h=irs
    this is where we have 4 variables and cannot be solved until we acquire at least three values for any of the three unknown.
    and wen u get that u subst into the equation and solve

    ReplyDelete
  27. (4)w= 5(7d + 2)
    1st we have to expand the brackets.
    so w is equal to 5 * 7d + 5 * 2
    so w = 35d + 10
    to find the value of w if provided with a value of d substitute in the equation and solve and vice versa if wanna find for d

    ReplyDelete
  28. (5)p=hv + k
    this means that p is equal to (h) multiply by (v) + k

  29. these are all equations. equations are relationships; showing how things are connected together by grouping and you know the output

    ReplyDelete
  30. the equal sign gives the output

    ReplyDelete
  31. the above equations are connecting terms using functions to group them by identify like terms.

    ReplyDelete
  32. the relationship is given by the functions: that is addition, subtraction, multiplication, division

    ReplyDelete
  33. for ques
    4)w=5(7d-2)
    w=35d-10
    for first expand brackets 5*7d(35d) and 5*-2(- 10)
    therefore w is equal to 35 * by the value of d -10

    ReplyDelete
  34. 5) p=hv+k
    that means k is equal to h multiply by v add k where h,v,k are variables ie. they represent a number. once the value of h,v,k are given you can solve the equation and get the value of p

    6)y=mx+c
    where m is equal to the gradient,x is equal to the x value and c is the constant.
    so y is equal to m*x add c

    ReplyDelete
  35. 7)g=h/3+t
    g is equal to the value of h divided by 3 and the ans u get plus the value of t to it

    8) p=(7f-9)/5
    first expand brackets, 1 is understood in front of it. secondly multiply 7 by the value of f ,minus 9 and the value you get divide by 5 that will give you the value of g

    ReplyDelete
  36. 9)h=(5m+3)/p
    h is equal to 5 multiply by the value of m and the ans you get add 3 to it, then divide by the value of p

    10)m=(hp+3)/5
    similarly m is qual to the value of h multiply by the value of p,and add 3 to it, then divide by 5. in other words m is equal to the product of the value of h and the value of p plus 3 divided by 5

    ReplyDelete
  37. 1) the value of m is equal to the sum of 6 and 13

    ReplyDelete

    m represents a number which is equivalant to the sum of 6 and 13

    ReplyDelete
  43. 2)m = 5b + 2
    5 multiply by b (which is a number) add 2 is equal to m (which is also a number)

    ReplyDelete
  44. 3) h = irs
    i multiply by r multiply by s is equal to h
    OR
    h = i * r * s

    ReplyDelete
  45. 4) w = 5(7d - 2)
    w is equal to 5 multiply by 7d , 5 multiply by -2
    therefore w = 35d - 10
    35 multiply by d minus 10 is equal to w

    ReplyDelete
